So you may have heard about this thing called DABWAHA. It’s like March Madness, but for romance. Fun!
(Still not ringing any bells? Here’s a primer. Come back when you’re done, ‘kay?)
The brackets are up, and the time is ripe to make your predictions. (Full slate of players is here, broken down by category.)
Who will win? Who will lose? Who will be the Gonzaga of DABWAHA, slaying better-seeded opponents left and right?
Me, I hope. Because my seeds are not so hot. About Last Night is seeded thirteenth in region 3, and Room at the Inn is fourteenth in region 4. It’s like they think I don’t have game, or something. HOW COULD THEY THINK I DON’T HAVE GAME?
So. Right. Anyway, right now is the Period of Mulling and Trash-Talking, where readers pick their brackets and authors sling shit at each other, hoping something will stick to sully their opponents’ reputations before the actual voting begins on Thursday.
But I’m not the trash talking sort. No, no. I just dispense information. So here are two informational voters’ guides to help you choose which book should win in the particular match-ups in which I am involved. First up, the Battle of the Bad Girls:

I’m also involved in the Battle of the Holiday Smut:

As you can see, there are tough choices ahead. How to motivate my faithful fans to vote for me? How, I say?
Well. I did have a few ideas.
BRIBES
* If About Last Night advances to round 2, I will post a deleted scene in which City plays rugby.
* If About Last Night advances to round 3, I will post a deleted scene in which City gets a blow job.
* If About Last Night advances to round 4, I will post a deleted scene in which City punches Winston in the face.
AND
* If About Last Night advances to the Final Four, I will write an epilogue to About Last Night and post it for free on my website.
Yes? Does that work for you chickens? I THOUGHT SO.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any deleted scenes from Room at the Inn, so I’m forced to dig deeper. Way deeper. Like, all the way back to my very first, rather embarrassing manuscript deep. So.
* If Room at the Inn advances to round 2, I will post the first chapter of my first manuscript, Rebound. As is. With all the embarrassing newbie mistakes left in.
* If Room at the Inn advances to round 3, I will post the first kiss from Rebound.
* If Room at the Inn advances to round 3, I will post the blow-job scene from Rebound (which is really rather good, if I do say so myself).
AND
* If Room at the Inn somehow miraculously makes it to the Final Four, I’ll post whatever the heck you guys want from Rebound — full sex scenes, dark moment, happy ending, whatever.
Now go out and spread some completely unbiased information on my behalf. I’ll be back Thursday to hector you to vote!

LOL! I would vote for them anyways, but I like bribes too.
Yay DABWAHA! The bribes & trash-talking are seriously the best (and most hilarious) part. Go Nev & Cath!
You are so funny, Ruthie! I’ve got both your entries advancing, so of course I’m voting for them. And I really don’t think seeding means anything in this particular instance of March madness.
I’ve not seen any seeding, and I can’t believe it anyway! My bracket shows you going a long, long way, and I shall be voting to make that prediction come true.
I spotted (and voted for) you in another competition today. It’s The Romance Reviews (http://www.theromancereviews.com/bookvote.php) and About Last Night is a finalist in the Contemporary Romance category.
I love bribery! Will be voting, would have voted for Cath and N & N anyway!!!!!
Ruthie, “About Last Night” was My Favorite Book of the Year, and I want to show my solidarity with your Authorial Awesomeness.
So….if “ALN” advances to round 2, I will actively look for an opportunity to play rugby (knowing that at my advanced age, this is is likely to mean serious injury, if not dismemberment).
If “ALN” advances to round 3, I will apply the knowledge gained from your very generous bribe so as to make my husband a very happy man (blush blush WOOT).
And if “ALN” advances to round 4, the next time I have the urge to punch someone in the face, I’ll (wo)manfully resist and simply say “Swoon worthy.” Keep ‘em guessing.
Game on! I’m ready to vote!!
About Last Night has my vote for sure!
I just hope will get to read the epilogue you’ll write
I truly cannot decide whether I would rather read about City playing rugby or punching someone in the face… no comment on the middle option!
I’m always happy to read a BJ scene!
Let’s make this happen, people! But what if it doesn’t make it? Do we get a consolation BJ? (that didn’t come out right)
LOL! I’m so new to this whole thing… But yay for the Galileo love – in a roundabout way!
Can I tell you cool it is to see my cover next to yours? OMG – surreal!
I will be voting. Mainly cos ALN is one of my favourite books
Voting anyway, but I hope we get to see some of these!
