Put on Your Pimp Hat, It’s a Giant Giveaway!

I’m delighted to announce that today marks the first day of this week’s fantabulous Pimp My Read giveaway! I have banded together with three of my very favoritest contemporary romance authors – Sarah Mayberry, Shannon Stacey, and Molly O’Keefe – to give away four (count ‘em: one, two, three, FOUR) fabulous e-readers.

Imagine the four of us, bedecked in (virtual) feathers and gold chains, standing atop our matching pink Romance Pimp Caddies to sing the praises of e-readers and digital books at four fantastic romance review sites: Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, Smexybooks, Dear Author, and The Season for Romance. Quite a mental image, right? But believe it! It’s happening!

At every site, one of us is giving away an e-reader, as well as prizes for runners-up. So if you’ve been on the fence about which e-reader to get, or even why you would get one—or if you love your e-reader to bits and are dying to convert a friend or family member to the digital side—this is the contest you’ve been waiting for!

So before I get into the details, let me just pause to say how thrilled I am to be participating in this contest with Sarah, Shannon, and Molly. Y’all are already reading their awesome books, right? RIGHT? You  should be, because all three of them are among my Literary Idols of Romance, and I feel as though someone ought to pinch me on my Pimp Cheek to make sure this is really happening.

Just in case you’re not already reading Molly, Sarah, and Shannon, lemme try to talk you into it. Because if you like my books, you’ll probably love theirs. All three write romance that is contemporary, fun, and SEX-AY, with a lot of emotion mingling with some rollicking humor.

Sarah Mayberry’s latest release is Her Best Worst Mistake, which shares an a number of elements in common with About Last Night: a hot, uptight Englishman; a reformed-wild-child heroine; and OH MY GOD THE SEX SCENES. It just happens to be the sequel to my favorite of Sarah’s Harlequin Blaze novels, Hot Island Nights, wherein uptight upper-crust Englishwoman Lizzie travels to Australia and gets her freak on with a laid-back, fun-loving Aussie named Nate who turns out to have Major Issues. And y’all know how I feel about heroes with Major Issues: Bring. Them. On.

Molly O’Keefe is my partner in crime at Random House, where her debut in single-title-length romance, Can’t Buy Me Love, dropped just a few weeks ago. She’s also my partner in cover model hotness: that dark-haired fellow with his shirt all rucked up on Molly’s cover is the very same man who plays Tom on the cover of Ride with Me. And as if that’s not enough, Molly also shares my penchant for flirting-with-the-boundaries-of-even-likeable heroines. Tara Jean Sweet, the heroine of Can’t Buy Me Love, is a leather-wearing, big-hair-sporting, bimbo-acting blonde with a Dark Past. She’s interesting and ballsy, and I love Molly for writing her. Even better, Molly has written a zillion books for Harlequin Superromance, including His Wife for One Night, which I very much enjoyed, because it has a hunky-scientist-slash-rancher, and if there’s a better combination of things for a hero to be, I do not know what it is.

And finally, there is the awesome Shannon Stacey, who I only recently began reading and adoring (because to read Shannon is to adore her). Her novella Slow Summer Kisses is set at a lakefront cabin where I would like to live, and it pairs a laid-back, I-just-want-to-sit-on-the-dock-and-stare-at-the-water hero with an overplanned, excessively intense heroine who needs must figure out how to just relax, already. The great thing about this setup is that even though the heroine is intense, she is somehow magically not annoying, because Shannon is a great writer, and her characters are real and funny. I would like to hang out with them. My grand plan is to read the Kowalski series next (Exclusively Yours, Undeniably Yours, and Yours to Keep), because everybody says those books are made of awesome.

So! Four authors, four e-readers, lots of books to give away. Here’s the details. Or, as a pimp might have said 10 years ago (it takes 10 years for slang to reach my out-of-touch Midwestern Mom ears), here’s the “DL” —

3. Ruthie, Sarah, Shannon, and Molly will choose the winners from among the comments on the site where each posts. Feel free to entertain us or tug at our heartstrings — we’ll pick the winners whose comments most effectively sway us!

4. No purchase necessary. You must be 18 years of age or older to enter.

5. This contest is open internationally. The e-readers on offer will work in many, but not all, countries. Please be aware that geographical restrictions may affect your ability to use/enjoy your prize.
